Loris Hezemans (born 26 May 1997) is a Dutch professional racing driver. He last competed full-time in theGT World Challenge Europe, driving the No. 12Audi R8 LMS GT3 forComtoyou Racing, part-time in theNASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 27Ford Mustang forTeam Hezeberg, part-time in theNASCAR Xfinity Series driving the No. 33Toyota Supra forDGM Racing, and part-time in theNASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving the No. 33 for Reaume Brothers Racing.

He is the2019 and2021 champion of theNASCAR Whelen Euro Series. He previously competed in theSEAT León Eurocup, Renault Clio Cup Benelux,TCR International Series, andBlancpain GT Series Sprint Cup. In 2017, he started in the McLaren GT Driver Academy in the Blancpain GT Sprint Series.[1]

Racing career

Hezemans began his career in 2014 in Renault Clio Cup Benelux, where he finished sixth in the standings. In 2015 he switched to theAudi Sport TT Cup, and finished seventh in the championship standings. That year he also took part in theSEAT León Eurocup, he qualified on pole position for his first-ever race and went on to win the race.[2] In July 2015, it was announced that Hezemans would make hisTCR International Series debut withTarget Competition driving aSEAT León Cup Racer.[3]

He switched to sports car racingBlancpain GT Series Sprint Cup in 2017, driving forStrakka Racing in a part-time campaign before making his full-time debut forGRT Grasser Racing Team in 2018.[4] Originally scheduled to compete in all races, he ultimately opted to skip the season finale round atNürburgring to focus on his NASCAR Whelen Euro Series title campaign.[citation needed]

Hezemans made his stock car racing debut in theNASCAR Whelen Euro Series as he became the driver for Hendriks Motorsport in the Elite 1 class.[5] He scored his first pole position atHockenheim before he picked up his first career win at the same venue on the Saturday race having led the race from the start to the finish.[6][7] He finished the year fourth in the standings and won the Junior Trophy classification for drivers aged 25 and under to win an opportunity to race in the United States.[8]

Hezemans made his racing debut in the United States the following year when he took part in the 2019 edition of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing atNew Smyrna Speedway, driving forMike Skinner's team ATF & Gunslinger.[9] He scored three top-five and six top-ten finishes to finish third overall in the Pro Late Model category at the World Series.[10] Later in the year, he would score his first victory in an oval when he won at his home race atRaceway Venray.[11]

Hezemans' Xfinity debut atRoad America in 2019

On 21 August 2019, it was announced that Hezemans would be making hisNASCAR Xfinity Series debut forB. J. McLeod Motorsports at theCTECH Manufacturing 180 inRoad America.[12] He finished in 22nd place, with a power steering failure and a crash on the final restart preventing Hezemans from scoring a top-fifteen finish in his Xfinity Series debut.[13]

In September, Hezemans took the lead in the Euro Series championship after he scored the victory in both races atHockenheim before he clinched his first Euro Series championship title in October after he started the rain-affected final race of the season atCircuit Zolder.[14] He finished the 2019 season with four wins, six podium finishes, and eleven top-ten finishes.[citation needed]

An injury to his right hand slightly dampened Hezemans' performance in the early stages of the2020 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season.[15] He finished the year in third place after winning the season-opening round atVallelunga and the season ending round atValencia.[16]

In2021, Hezemans would return to the United States to race in the two Xfinity Series races, which would be his first start on ovals. He competed in the races atPhoenix in March andCharlotte in May, both in the No. 13 forMBM Motorsports, which was fielded in a partnership withReaume Brothers Racing for these races.[17] He also drove for the No. 90 forDGM at Pocono, the No. 33 forReaume at IRC, No. 66 forMBM at Roval, and the No. 61 forHattori at Kansas, all were which entries were collaborated withReaume, except for IRC, in which he drove forReaume.

In2022, Hezemans drove in fiveNASCAR Cup Series races forTeam Hezeberg. Mechanical problems knocked him out in his first three starts, and he scored a duo of 33rd places finishes while running at the finish of his final two starts.

In 2023, Hezemans competed in theGT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup andGT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup Silver, competing forComtoyou Racing.[citation needed]
