Lone Mountain College was a privateJesuit college acquired by theUniversity of San Francisco (USF) in 1978.[1]
It was built and founded by theReligious of the Sacred Heart asSacred Heart Academy inMenlo Park, California, in 1898. The school becameCollege of the Sacred Heart in 1921. In the 1930s, it moved toSan Francisco, California, and becameSan Francisco College for Women.[2] It was located near theLone Mountain Cemetery, which was in the process of removal. The school then changed its name again to Lone Mountain College, in 1969, at which time the College began admitting men and became co-educational.[3]
In 1978, the college was acquired by theUniversity of San Francisco to become USF'sLone Mountain Campus.[4][5]
