Logan Douglas Davidson (born December 26, 1997) is an American professionalbaseballshortstop in theAthletics organization. He playedcollege baseball atClemson University before the Athletics selected him in the first round of the2019 Major League Baseball draft.

Amateur career

Davidson attendedProvidence High School inCharlotte, North Carolina.[1] In 2016,The Charlotte Observer named him their high school baseball player of the year.[2] He enrolled atClemson University, where he playedcollege baseball for theClemson Tigers.[3] In 2017 and 2018, he playedcollegiate summer baseball with theFalmouth Commodores of theCape Cod Baseball League.[4][5]

Professional career

TheOakland Athletics selected Davidson in the first round, with the 29th overall selection, of the2019 Major League Baseball draft.[6]

After Davidson signed with Oakland, he was assigned to theVermont Lake Monsters of theLow-ANew York-Penn League.[7] Over 54 games, he batted .239 with four home runs and 12 RBI.[8] Oakland invited Davidson tospring training as a non-roster player in 2020, but he did not play a minor league game due to the cancellation of the season because of theCOVID-19 pandemic.[9] He was assigned to theMidland RockHounds of theDouble-A Central in 2021, slashing .212/.307/.313 with seven home runs and 48 RBI over 119 games.[10] After the 2021 regular season, he earned a spot playing for theMesa Solar Sox in theArizona Fall League.[11]

The Athletics invited Davidson tospring training as a non-roster player in 2022.[12] He returned to Midland for the 2022 season.[13] The Athletics also invited Davidson to spring training as a non-roster player in 2023.[14] He was assigned to theLas Vegas Aviators of theTriple-APacific Coast League during the 2023 regular season.[15]

Personal life

Davidson's father,Mark Davidson, played in MLB.[16] His sister, Taylor, played tennis forStanford University.[1]
