Lloyd Hatton (born c. 1995)[1] is a BritishLabour Party politician who has served as theMember of Parliament forSouth Dorset since2024.[2]

Early life and career

Hatton was born and raised inWyke Regis,Weymouth.[3][4] He attended Holy Trinity primary school and All Saints Academy.[5][6] He played rugby at Weymouth RFC and his first job was working weekends with his dad in a fish and chip shop.[7] Hatton attendedQueen Mary University, London, reading history and politics.[7] After graduating, Hatton became a political researcher and is a former member of theYouth Parliament.[1][8] He has also been a school governor.[9]

In theMay 2022 local elections, Hatton won a seat onCamden London Borough Council representingKilburn.[10] During this time he lived in both Weymouth and London.[10]

Parliamentary career

In July 2024, Hatton was elected MP forSouth Dorset replacing incumbentRichard Drax who had previously held the seat for 14 years.[10] Following his victory, Hatton resigned as a Camden councillor the week after becoming an MP.[6][11]

In November 2024, Hatton voted in favour of theTerminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which proposes to legaliseassisted suicide.[12]

Personal life

He is openly LGBT+.[13]
