Ljubno ob Savinji (pronounced[ˈljuːbnɔɔpsaˈʋiːnji];German:Laufen[2]) is the largest settlement and the centre of theMunicipality of Ljubno on the upper course of theSavinja River inSlovenia. The town is referred to asLjubno ob Savinji in order to distinguish it fromother settlements namedLjubno. Traditionally it belonged to the region ofStyria and is now included in theSavinja Statistical Region. The settlement was first mentioned in written documents dating to 1247, and by 1442 it was classified as amarket town.[3]
Theparish church in the settlement is dedicated toSaint Elizabeth. It was first mentioned in 1308 and rebuilt in the 15th century. It has a rectangularnave, addedchapels, a three-sidedapse, and a southernbelfry. It belongs to theRoman Catholic Diocese of Celje.[4]
