Lithodes megacantha is a species ofking crab in the genusLithodes.[1] They are bright red and have been found inFrench Polynesia at depths of around 1,000 m (3,300 ft).[1]
It closely resemblesLithodes longispina.[1]
The name "megacantha" means "large spine" from the Greek words "mega" and "acantha".[1]
