TheHulk is a fictionalsuperhero in theMarvel Comicsuniverse who first appeared in the comic book seriesThe Incredible Hulk in 1962.[1] The Hulk's first appearance in avideo game was the 1984graphic adventure computer gameQuestprobe featuring The Hulk,[2][3] and the character began making appearances onhome andhandheld consoles a decade later.[4][5] An earlier game was originally planned byParker Brothers for theAtari 2600 in 1983, but was canceled in the midst of thevideo game crash.[6] Several companies have developed games based on the Hulk, includingAdventure International,[7]Probe Entertainment,[8]Attention to Detail,[9]Radical Entertainment,[10][11]Edge of Reality, andAmaze Entertainment.[12] The Hulk's standalone titles are oftenaction games that pit the Hulk againstsupervillains in abeat 'em up format,[8][9][10] with his human alter ego Bruce Banner occasionally appearing forstealth orpuzzle elements.[10][13] Apart from his standalone titles, the Hulk also appears in several other Marvel titles within an ensemble cast;[3] in these appearances, he is occasionally accompanied by members of his own supporting cast, such as hisarchnemesisAbomination and his cousinShe-Hulk.[14][15][16]
