InKerala, the administrative divisions below the district are calledtaluks. There are 78 taluks with 1670 villages (including group villages).[1][2]
For revenue administration, adistrict subdivided intorevenue divisions, each comprising multipletaluks within its jurisdiction. A taluk contain severalrevenue villages under its jurisdiction. Each taluk has a taluk office headed by aTehsildar, who also serves as the executive magistrate of thattaluk.[3]
