Korn is an Americannu metal band fromBakersfield, California. Formed in 1993, the band originally featured vocalistJonathan Davis, guitaristsJames "Munky" Shaffer andBrian "Head" Welch, bassistReginald "Fieldy" Arvizu, and drummerDavid Silveria.^[1] The current lineup of the group includes drummerRay Luzier, who replaced Silveria in 2009.^[1] The band released its self-titled debut albumKorn in 1994, which was produced byRoss Robinson and featured equal songwriting credits for the whole band.^[2][3]Life Is Peachy, released in 1996, included twocover versions – ofIce Cube's "Wicked" andWar's "Lowrider",^[4] while the band's third albumFollow the Leader featured collaborations withLimp Bizkit'sFred Durst ("All in the Family") and rappers Ice Cube ("Children of the Korn") andSlimkid3 ("Cameltosis").^[5]

Following the release of Korn's next three albums – 1999'sIssues, 2002'sUntouchables and 2003'sTake a Look in the Mirror – all of which featured equal songwriting credits for all five band members,^[6][7][8] Welch left the group in 2005 due to his "newfound Christian faith".^[1] The previous year, the band had releasedGreatest Hits Vol. 1, which featured recordings ofCameo's "Word Up!" andPink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall".^[9] Korn returned as a quartet in 2005 withSee You on the Other Side, which co-credited producersThe Matrix andAtticus Ross on many tracks.^[10] After Silveria left in 2007,^[1]Brooks Wackerman andTerry Bozzio performed drums on the band's 2007untitled eighth studio album, which also featured keyboardistZac Baird who was credited for songwriting on many of the album's songs.^[11]

After filling in for the departed Silveria on the untitled album's touring cycle, Ray Luzier joined as Korn's full-time drummer in 2009,^[1] first contributing to the band's 2010 albumKorn III: Remember Who You Are, which returned to crediting the band for songwriting.^[12] The band's next album, 2011'sThe Path of Totality, saw a drastic shift in musical style intoelectronic music, particularlydubstep, including collaborations withSkrillex,Noisia,Excision and more.^[13] Original guitarist Brian "Head" Welch rejoined the band in 2013,^[1] returning forThe Paradigm Shift which co-credited producer Don Gilmore for songwriting.^[14]The Serenity of Suffering followed in 2016.^[15]
