More than 1,200 slang names have been identified for the product (drug),herb orhashish, obtained from thecannabis plant.[1] This list is not exhaustive; it includes well-attested expressions.

In theUnited States, mostslang names formarijuana andhashish date to thejazz era, when it was calledgauge,jive,reefer.Weed is a commonly used slang term for drugcannabis. New slang names, liketrees, came into use early in the twenty-first century.[3][4][5]
