WoodhamNorwayThesteamship ran aground on the Chilton Ledges, off theIsle of Wight, United Kingdom. Her nineteen crew were rescued by the Brightstone Lodge Lifeboat. She was on a voyage fromNewcastle upon Tyne,Northumberland, United Kingdom toNew York, United States.Woodham was refloated on 27 April with assistance from thetugsCamel,Grinder (both United Kingdom),Robin Hood andVictoria (both United Kingdom) and taken in toPortsmouth,Hampshire, United Kingdom, where she sank.[21][4][22]

Thirteen survivors were rescued by thesteamshipBywell Castle ( United Kingdom). The next day, the ship was discovered in a sinking condition byLindsay ( United Kingdom).
