This article listspolitical parties in Lithuania. As of October 2025[update], there are 23 activepolitical parties registered with theMinistry of Justice,[1] and one party undergoing formal registration.[2]Lithuania has amulti-party system in which no one party often has a chance of gaining power alone, and parties must work with each other to formcoalition governments.
As of October 2025[update], Lithuania has a total of
97,158 people registered asparty members and is experiencing a sharp decline in political congregation,[3] with a
11.21% decrease from the start of public membership tracking in 2018.[2]Distrust in political parties emerged as a major contributor to this, the institution's continued decline inopinion polling now ranks it as the least trusted, having overtaken theSeimas, with only a single digit percentage ofrepresentative population expressing confidence.[4][5]
There arecurrently eight or nine[6] parties represented in theSeimas. Thecurrent government is a broad majority coalition led by theSocial Democratic Party of Lithuania, which also includes thePolitical Party "Dawn of Nemunas", theLithuanian Farmers and Greens Union and theElectoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance. In 2025, the last two parties replaced theUnion of Democrats "For Lithuania" during a government reshuffle.[7][8]
As of 2025[update], one political party has not submitted the necessary documents to be registered for the upcoming elections.[2]
