Here is a list of mergers inHyōgo Prefecture, Japan since the Heisei era.

Mergers from April 1, 1999 to Present

On April 1, 1999 - The former town ofSasayama absorbed the towns ofKonda,Nishiki andTannan (all fromTaki District) to create the city ofTamba-Sasayama.Taki District was dissolved as a result of this merger.(Merger Information Page)
On April 1, 2004 - The former town ofYabu absorbed towns ofOya,Sekinomiya andYoka (all fromYabu District) to create the city ofYabu.Yabu District was dissolved as a result of this merger.
On November 1, 2004 - The towns ofAogaki,Hikami,Ichijima,Kaibara,Kasuga andSannan (all fromHikami District) were merged to create the city ofTamba.Hikami District was dissolved as a result of this merger.
On January 11, 2005 - The towns ofMidori,Mihara,Nandan andSeidan (all fromMihara District) were merged to create the city ofMinamiawaji.Mihara District was dissolved as a result of this merger.
On April 1, 2005 - The former town ofAwaji absorbed the towns ofHigashiura,Hokudan,Ichinomiya andTsuna (all fromTsuna District) to create the city ofAwaji.
On April 1, 2005 - The former town ofAsago absorbed the towns ofIkuno,Santō andWadayama (all fromAsago District) to create the city ofAsago.Asago District was dissolved as a result of this merger.(Merger Information Page)
On April 1, 2005 - The old city ofToyooka absorbed the towns ofHidaka,Kinosaki andTakeno (all fromKinosaki District), and the towns ofIzushi andTantō (both fromIzushi District) to create the new and expanded city ofToyooka.Izushi District was dissolved as a result of this merger.
On April 1, 2005 - The town ofKasumi (fromKinosaki District), and the towns ofMikata andMuraoka (both fromMikata District) were merged to create the town ofKami (inMikata District).Kinosaki District was dissolved as a result of this merger.
On April 1, 2005 - The towns ofChikusa,Haga,Ichinomiya andYamasaki (all fromShisō District) were merged to create the city ofShisō.
On October 1, 2005 - The towns ofHamasaka andOnsen (both fromMikata District) were merged to create the town ofShin'onsen.
On October 1, 2005 - The towns ofKōzuki,Mikazuki andNankō (all fromSayō District) were merged into the expanded town ofSayō.
On October 1, 2005 - The town ofKurodashō (fromTaka District) was merged into the expanded city ofNishiwaki.
On October 1, 2005 - The old city ofTatsuno (龍野) absorbed the towns ofIbogawa,Mitsu andShingū (all fromIbo District) to create the new and expanded city ofTatsuno (たつの). Tatsuno's written name changed fromkanji (龍野) tohiragana (たつの) with this merger.
On October 24, 2005 - The town ofYokawa (fromMino District) was merged into the expanded city ofMiki.Mino District was dissolved as a result of this merger.
On November 1, 2005 - The towns ofKami,Naka andYachiyo (all fromTaka District) were merged to create the town ofTaka.
On November 7, 2005 - The towns ofKanzaki andŌkawachi (both fromKanzaki District) were merged to create the town ofKamikawa.
On February 11, 2006 - The town ofGoshiki (fromTsuna District) was merged into the expanded city ofSumoto.Tsuna District was dissolved as a result of this merger.
On March 20, 2006 - The towns ofTakino,Tōjō andYashiro (all fromKatō District) were merged to create the city ofKatō.Katō District was dissolved as a result of this merger.
On March 27, 2006 - The towns ofIeshima andYumesaki (both fromShikama District), the town ofYasutomi (fromShisō District), and the town ofKōdera (fromKanzaki District) were merged into the expanded city ofHimeji.Shikama District andShisō District were both dissolved as a result of this merger.
