Here is a list of mergers inChiba Prefecture,Japan since the Heisei era.

Mergers from April 1, 1999 to Present

On April 1, 2001 - the town ofShiroi (leaving fromInba District) was elevated tocity status.
On April 1, 2002 - the town ofTomisato (leaving fromInba District) was elevated tocity status.
On June 6, 2003 - the town ofSekiyado (fromHigashikatsushika District) was merged into the expanded city ofNoda. (Merger information page)
On February 11, 2005 - the town ofAmatsukominato (fromAwa District) was merged into the expanded city ofKamogawa.
On March 28, 2005 - the town ofShōnan (fromHigashikatsushika District) was merged into the expanded city ofKashiwa.Higashikatsushika District was dissolved as a result of this merger. (Merger information page)
On July 1, 2005 - the old city ofAsahi absorbed the town ofHikata (fromKatori District), and the towns ofIioka andUnakami (both fromKaijō District) to create the new and expanded city ofAsahi.Kaijō District was dissolved as a result of this merger. (Merger information page)
On December 5, 2005 - the town ofIsumi absorbed the towns ofMisaki andŌhara (all fromIsumi District) to create the city ofIsumi.
On January 23, 2006 - the city ofYōkaichiba was merged with the town ofNosaka (fromSōsa District) to create the city ofSōsa.
On March 20, 2006 - the towns ofChikura,Maruyama,Shirahama,Tomiura,Tomiyama andWada, and the village ofMiyoshi (all fromAwa District) were merged to create the city ofMinamibōsō.
On March 27, 2006 - the towns ofShimofusa andTaiei (both fromKatori District) were merged into the expanded city ofNarita.
On March 27, 2006 - the city ofSawara absorbed the towns ofKurimoto,Omigawa andYamada (all fromKatori District) to create the city ofKatori.
On March 27, 2006 - the towns ofMatsuo,Narutō andSanbu, and the village ofHasunuma (all fromSanbu District) were merged to create the city ofSanmu.
On March 27, 2006 - the town ofHikari (fromSōsa District), and the town ofYokoshiba (fromSanbu District) were merged to create the town ofYokoshibahikari (inSanbu District).Sōsa District was dissolved as a result of this merger.
On March 23, 2010 - the villages ofInba andMotono (both fromInba District) were merged into the expanded city ofInzai.
On January 1, 2013 - the town ofŌamishirasato (leaving fromSanbu District) was elevated tocity status.
