From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
List of saltwater mollusc species that form a part of the molluscan fauna of South Africa

Map of the Southern African coastline showing some of the landmarks referred to in species range statements

Thelist of marineheterobranchgastropods ofSouth Africa is a list ofsaltwatermolluscspecies that form a part of the molluscanfauna of South Africa. This list does not include the land or freshwater molluscs.

This is a sub-list of thelist of marine gastropods of South Africa, which is in turn a sub-list of thelist of marine molluscs of South Africa.

Heterobranchia, theheterobranchs (meaning "different gill"), is ataxonomicclade ofsnails andslugs, which includesmarine, aquatic, andterrestrialgastropodmolluscs.

Heterobranchia is one of the main clades of gastropods. Currently Heterobranchia comprises two groups: theopisthobranchs, and thepulmonates. (Full article...)
