Thechief minister of Arunachal Pradesh ischief executive of theIndianstate ofArunachal Pradesh. As per theConstitution of India, thegovernor of Arunachal Pradesh is the state'sde jure head, butde facto executive authority rests with thechief minister. Following elections to theArunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the governor usually invites the party (or coalition) with a majority of seats to form thegovernment. The governor appoints the chief minister, whosecouncil of ministers arecollectively responsible to the assembly. Given that he has the confidence of the assembly, the chief minister's term is for five years and is subject to noterm limits.[2]Pema Khandu of theBharatiya Janata Party is the current incumbent. Chief Minister also serves as Leader of the House in the Legislative Assembly.[3]
