Roasting orgrilling chicken is the common method to cookchicken worldwide.

This is alist of chicken dishes.Chicken is the most common type ofpoultry/meat in the world,[1] and was one of the first domesticated animals. Chicken is a major worldwide source ofmeat andeggs for human consumption. It is prepared asfood in a wide variety of ways, varying by region and culture. The prevalence of chickens is due to almost the entire chicken being edible, and the ease of raising them. The chicken domesticated for its meat arebroilers and for its eggs arelayers.

Chicken as a meat has been depicted inBabylonian carvings from around 600 BC.[2] Chicken was one of the most common meats available in theMiddle Ages.[citation needed] It was eaten over most of theEastern Hemisphere and several different numbers and kinds of chicken such ascapons,pullets, and hens were eaten. It was one of the basic ingredients in the so-calledwhite dish, astew usually consisting of chicken and fried onions cooked inmilk and seasoned with spices andsugar.
