LeBron James' career is considered one of the most complete and significant careers in professional basketball history. James' length of career, adaptability and sustained excellence over two decades has made him a global icon both on the court and in popular culture. From breaking scoring records in playoff games to being the only player in NBA history to impact every play in every area of the game, James has changed what it means to be an NBA superstar. Now in his 21st season, while still playing at an extraordinary level, his legacy is not only mountain higher, it is engraved permanently in a unique way, often with a lasting and elevated impact on culture beyond basketball.

Footnotes

[edit]
  1. ^Under current NBA draft rules, draftees must also be at least 19 years old during the calendar year of the draft. This will usually happen after a player is one season removed from high school, but not always—under current rules,Brad Daugherty (selected #1 overall in 1986 after a four-year college career at North Carolina) would not have been eligible for the draft until two years after his high school graduation, because he graduated while still 16.
  2. ^Awards, festivals, honors and other miscellaneous organizations are listed in alphabetical order.
  3. ^Year in which award ceremony was held.
