
Uttarakhand has three main airports, a few airstrips and a couple of proposed airstrips for military and emergency purposes. TheDehradun Airport inDehradun,Pantnagar Airport inPantnagar, andPithoragarh Airport inPithoragarh are operated by theAirports Authority of India. Three airstrips,Chaukhutia Airport,Gauchar Airport andChinyalisaur Airport are proposed for expansion in the future underUDAN scheme.
Recently, a new terminal was constructed atDehradun Airport. The new terminal was inaugurated in October 2021.[1] In 2020, Uttarakhand's thenChief MinisterTrivendra Singh Rawat had announced that thePantnagar Airport will be expanded to become Uttarakhand's first international airport.[2]
