TheIndian union territory ofLakshadweep has only one operational airport namedAgatti Airport on the island ofAgatti. Under theGovernment of India'sUDAN scheme, theAgatti Airport is proposed to be expanded. Also, two water aerodromes atMinicoy andKavaratti are proposed to be developed for tourism purposes.[1] There is a proposal to build an airstrip at Minicoy for commercial and defence purposes.[2] TheGovernment of India has planned to build a joint airport both for military and civilian purposes atMinicoy Island.[3][4][5][6]
