Current delegation

Michigan was admitted to the Union on January 26, 1837. Its current U.S. senators are DemocratsGary Peters andElissa Slotkin.Carl Levin was Michigan's longest-serving senator (1979–2015). Four Michigan senators have risen to the position ofPresident pro tempore, and one (Thomas W. Ferry) served as President of the Senate from November 22, 1875 to March 3, 1877 (as actingVice President of the United States).[1]
