Incricket, abatsman reaches a triple century if they score 300 or moreruns in a singleinnings. TheRanji Trophy is the premierfirst-class cricket championship played in India. Conducted by theBoard of Control for Cricket in India, it was founded in 1934 as "The Cricket Championship of India".[1][2] As of January 2020[update], a triple century has been scored on 46 occasions by 41 different batsmen in the Ranji Trophy.[3]

The first triple century in the Ranji Trophy was scored byMaharashtra'sVijay Hazare againstBaroda in the1939–40 season.[3][4] As of November January 2023[update], the most recent triple century in the tournament was scored byPrithvi Shaw fromMumbai, who made 379 againstAssam in the2022–23 season.[5] The highest score in the competition was made byB. B. Nimbalkar, who scored 443 runsnot out for Maharashtra againstKathiawar in the1948–49 season. It is the only instance of aquadruple century in the tournament.[3][6] The highest number of triple centuries are scored byRavindra Jadeja, who has reached the milestone three times while playing forSaurashtra.[7] Jadeja is followed byV. V. S. Laxman,Cheteshwar Pujara, andWasim Jaffer, with two triple centuries each.[3] Tamil Nadu'sWoorkeri Raman andArjan Kripal Singh are the only two batsmen to score triple centuries in the same innings.[3] As of December 2016[update], five batsmen have scored 290–299 runs in an innings, and three of them were not out.[3]

Eight triple centuries have been made by players ofMumbai, which is more than any other team.[3]Maharashtra have conceded five triple centuries, which is followed by four fromOdisha andGoa &Jammu and Kashmir with three each.[3]Wankhede Stadium inMumbai has had six Ranji Trophy triple centuries scored at the venue, more than any other ground.[3]
