This is a list ofJ-pop artists and groups. Originally an evolution ofjazz, and coined New Music, the style went on to become known as City Pop, music with an urban theme. Later calledJapan-made Pop, the term was shortened to J-pop and now encompasses a wide range of musical styles andgenres. J-pop represents modernpop culture music originating from the country or musical talent of Japan.
