The Republic of India is made up of 28states and eightunion territories. Most states and union territories have their own representativeemblem,seal orcoat of arms which is used as the official governmental symbol, four states and five union territories use theNational Emblem of India for official purposes.
Some of theautonomous administrative divisions established by the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India have adopted their own symbols.
