ATwenty20 International (T20I) is a form ofcricket match between two representative teams, each having T20I status as determined by theInternational Cricket Council (ICC), and is played under the rules ofTwenty20 cricket.[1] The first such match was played betweenAustralia andNew Zealand on 17 February 2005.[2] TheIndian cricket team played its first T20I match—under the captaincy ofVirender Sehwag—during the2006–07 series in South Africa;[3][4] India defeated the hosts by sixwickets in the one-off match and claimed the series.[4]

As of January 2025, 119 players have represented India in T20Is. India won theinaugural edition of the ICC World Twenty20, defeatingPakistan in the final by fiveruns.[5]
