Lisa Rae Harriton is an American singer-songwriter, keyboardist andsound designer . She writes and records music with her husbandJoshua Bartholomew under the moniker JoLi. Harriton is a co-writer of theGrammy andOscar nominated song "Everything Is Awesome " fromThe Lego Movie . She teaches Keyboard Performance at theLos Angeles College of Music .[ 1]
Early life and education [ edit ] Harriton was born in Los Angeles, California[citation needed ] and grew up inVan Nuys, California .[ 2] She began working as a studio singer at age 8 on dates forDisney ,Integrity Media andWord Records . She sang the preproduction duet vocals onRod Stewart 'sGreat American Songbook .[citation needed ]
Harriton attendedCalifornia State University, Northridge ,[ 2] and completed classical piano studies at theRoyal Schools of Music in London, and completed further jazz piano studies at theUniversity of Southern California .[ 1]
Harriton has performed in China when she was 16 years old as part of the Cal State Northridge Jazz Band.[ 3] She has also toured Japan,Peru and Los Angeles jazz clubs and has worked with musicians such asIngrid Jensen andErnie Watts .[citation needed ]
On May 22, 2007, inLe Grand Rex club in Paris, she was unveiled as touring keyboardist and backing vocalist for the reformedalternative rock band,Smashing Pumpkins .[ 2] Harriton appeared in the videos for "Tarantula " and "That's the Way (My Love Is) ". She also appeared in the documentary concert film "If All Goes Wrong ."
In 2009 she toured withAdam Lambert performing as his keyboardist. She also appeared with Lambert on theCBS Early Show ,Late Night with David Letterman ,The View , and the American Music Awards. In 2010 she performed keyboard duties forKesha including an appearance onEllen .
In 2012, Harriton launched a solo career under the stage name Elle Rae.[ 4]
