Linus Bacon Comins (November 29, 1817 – October 14, 1892) was a Massachusetts politician who served asMayor of Roxbury, Massachusetts and as a member of theUnited States House of Representatives fromMassachusetts from 1855 to 1859.
Comins, the son of Mary (Bacon)[5] Comins and Barnabus C. Comins,[6] was born inCharlton, Massachusetts.
Comins attended the common schools atBrookfield, Massachusetts and was graduated from Worcester County Manual Training High School. He engaged in manufacturing inRoxbury, Massachusetts.
Comins was a member of the Roxbury city council from 1846 to 1848 and served as its president in 1847 and 1848. He was theMayor of Roxbury in 1854. He was elected as a candidate of theAmerican Party to theThirty-fourth Congress, March 4, 1855 - March 3, 1857, and as a Republican to theThirty-fifth Congress (March 4, 1857 – March 3, 1859).
After leaving Congress, he resumed manufacturing pursuits. He was a delegate to theRepublican National Convention, 1860.
Comins died inJamaica Plain, Massachusetts, October 14, 1892, and was interred atForest Hills Cemetery inJamaica Plain.
