Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt (born 20 April 1994) is a Danishbadminton player specializing in singles. She was a gold medalist in the2015 European Games and2025 European Championships.[2][3] In the juniors, she won a bronze medal at the2010 BWF World Junior Championships in the women's doubles withSandra-Maria Jensen.[4]

Career

Kjærsfeldt began to playing badminton at the age of eight, and started to playing competitively at the age of 15.[5] She competed at the2010 World Junior Championships and won the bronze medal in the girls' doubles partnered withSandra-Maria Jensen, after in the semi-finals, they were beaten by the Chinese pairBao Yixin andOu Dongni in straight games.[6] Kjærsfeldt won her first international title in the women's doubles at the 2011Croatian International with Jensen.[7] She then played at theVantaa European Junior Championships, won the gold medal in the mixed doubles withKim Astrup and bronze medal in the girls' doubles with Jensen.[8][9] She entered two finals at theScottish International, and won her first mixed doubles title with Astrup.[10]

In 2012, Kjærsfeldt won her first title of the year at theBanuinvest International in the women's doubles withSandra-Maria Jensen.[11] In May, Kjærsfeldt finished runner-up at theDenmark International in the mixed doubles withKim Astrup.[12] She then won her first women's singles title at theIrish Open.[13] After won the title in Ireland, she then entered the top 100 BWF world ranking.[14]

Kjærsfeldt opened the 2013 season by winning theEstonian International.[14] In March, she clinched the girls' singles silver medal at theEuropean Junior Championships, after being defeated by BulgarianStefani Stoeva in the final.[15] In 2014, Kjærsfeldt won theFinnish Open,[16] and also runners-up in theSwedish Masters and Irish Open.[17][18]

Kjærsfeldt competed at the2015 Baku European Games and won the gold medal in the women's singles.[2] She then won a Grand Prix title at theScottish Open beating home favoriteKirsty Gilmour in the final in three games.[19] In 2016, she was defeated byCarolina Marín in the semi-finals of theEuropean Championships, settled for the bronze medal.[20][21] Kjærsfeldt made her debut at the Olympics inRio 2016, but her pace was stopped in the group stage.[22] In December, she won her second Irish Open title.[23]

The BWF World Tour, which was announced on 19 March 2017 and implemented in 2018,[26] is a series of elite badminton tournaments sanctioned by theBadminton World Federation (BWF).
