TheLigue d'Athlétisme de la Guyane (LAG) is the governing body for the sport of athletics inFrench Guiana. Last president wasDaniel Lapompe-Paironne.[1] He was replaced byGaëtan Tariaffe.[2]
As LAG is part of theFédération française d'athlétisme, athletes from French Guiana normally participate internationally for France, e.g., inEuropean Athletics Championships as organized by theEAA. On the other hand, French Guiana as a Frenchoverseas department is part of theCaribbean. As an observer member ofCACAC, French Guiana is invited to participate at the championships, and also at theCARIFTA Games.
LAG was founded on January 10, 1963, as theLigue Régionale d'Athlétisme de la Guyane. First president wasVictor Périgny.[3]
