TheLiberty Bell installed outside theOregon State Capitol's west entrance, inSalem, Oregon, is a replica of theLiberty Bell inPhiladelphia,Pennsylvania.[1] The bell was presented to Oregon onJuly 4, 1950, byJohn Snyder, an American businessman and federal government official who served asUnited States Secretary of the Treasury in PresidentHarry S. Truman's administration, to promotesavings bonds.[2]
