Libbaya (لبايا) is a village in theBeka'a Valley ofLebanon, situated in theWestern Beqaa District of theBeqaa Governorate. It lies southeast ofSohmor.
There is aRoman temple near the town that was calledAin Libbaya orAyn Libbaya. It was classified amongst a group ofTemples of Mount Hermon byGeorge Taylor.[1]
In 1838,Eli Smith noted Libbaya's population as beingMetawileh.[2]
During the war in the 1980s, four Israeli Cobra helicopters backing the attacking force strafed Libbaya and nearby villages, killing a Lebanese soldier.[3]
