Liang Weikeng (Chinese:梁伟铿;pinyin:Liáng Wěikēng; born 30 November 2000) is a Chinesebadminton player.[1] He was part of Chinese winning team at the2023 Sudirman Cup, and at the same year won the men's doubles bronze medal at theBWF World Championships partnered withWang Chang. Liang and Wang won their first title as a pair in the2022 Japan Open.
In the junior events, Liang was a member of the Chinese junior squad that won gold medals in the2018 World Junior Championships in Markham and theAsia Junior Championships in Jakarta.
Liang partnered withShang Yichen and won a bronze medal at the2018 BWF World Junior Championships in the men's doubles event.[2][3] He also won a silver medal with Shang at the2018 Badminton Asia Junior Championships after losing to compatriotsDi Zijian andWang Chang in the final.[4]
After a long hiatus, Liang returned to the international court at the2022 Thailand Open with a new partner,Wang Chang. They were able to break in the men's doubles competition by beating a few top pairs, including Tokyo 2020 bronze medalistsAaron Chia andSoh Wooi Yik and also world number 1Marcus Fernaldi Gideon andKevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo to advance to the final of theIndonesia Masters.[5] In the final, they lost 10–21, 17–21 to home favoritesFajar Alfian andMuhammad Rian Ardianto.[6] In the next tournament, they defeated the reigning World ChampionsTakuro Hoki andYugo Kobayashi to reach the semi-finals of theMalaysia Masters,[5] but were then stopped byMohammad Ahsan andHendra Setiawan in straight games.[7] Liang then won his first international title in theJapan Open, where he and Wang defeatingKim Astrup andAnders Skaarup Rasmussen in the final in three games.[8]
In the first half of the 2023 season, Liang and his partner Wang Chang showed quite significant progress. They were able to win 2 BWF World Tour titles inIndia andThailand,[9][10] as well as being runners-up inMalaysia andSingapore.[11][12] Apart from that, Liang was part of the Chinese team that won theSudirman Cup.[13][14] Liang and Wang's achievements were able to bring them to 2nd place in the BWF world rankings on 13 June 2023.[15]
In August, Liang and Wang won the bronze medal at theWorld Championships in Copenhagen.[16] They were defeated by home pair Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in a close rubber game.[17] The Chinese rising pair then claimed their first ever BWF World Tour Super 1000 title at theChina Open.[18]

The BWF World Tour, which was announced on 19 March 2017 and implemented in 2018,[19] is a series of elite badminton tournaments sanctioned by theBadminton World Federation (BWF). The BWF World Tours are divided into levels of World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, Super 300, and the BWF Tour Super 100.[20]
