TheLewis Elton Gallery was anart gallery at theUniversity of Surrey'sGuildford campus, which hosted exhibitions, lectures and events including sculpture, paintings and photographs.[1] The Gallery was also responsible for the maintaining the University Art Collection and a range of special collections including theLewis and Mary Elton Art Collection andE.H. Shepard archive.
The Gallery was named in 1997 after ProfessorLewis Elton who initiated the display of original artwork at Surrey University's Physics Department inBattersea in 1963.
Exhibitions have included sculpture byJon Edgar[2] and photographs byAnne Purkiss documenting the restoration ofWatts Gallery in 2011, and a retrospective of paintings and drawings bySheila Healey[3] in 2012.
