Leocísio Júlio Sami (born 18 December 1988) is a Bissau-Guinean professionalfootballer who plays as aforward for Portuguese clubS.U. 1º Dezembro.
Born inBissau, Sami played the vast majority of his professional career in Portugal, finishing his development atS.L. Benfica.[2] In his first two years as a senior he alternated between theSegunda Liga and thethird division, representingEléctrico F.C. andC.D. Aves.[3][4]
Sami signed withC.S. Marítimo in the 2009 summer, appearing for both the first andsecond teams during his four-year spell in the island ofMadeira. Late into the 2010 Januarytransfer window he was loaned to second-tier sideC.D. Fátima, whicheventually avoided relegation.[5] On 18 August 2013, his onlyPrimeira Liga goal ofthe season helped his parent club to defeat Benfica 2–1.[6]
On 29 May 2014,free agent Sami joinedFC Porto on a four-year contract.[7] He never appeared for them in competitive matches, however, being consecutively loaned toS.C. Braga,[8]Vitória S.C.[9] and TurkishSüper Lig'sAkhisar Belediyespor.[10] His tenure at theEstádio Municipal de Braga was curtailed in January 2015, due to a run-in with managerSérgio Conceição.[11][12]
In February 2017, still owned by Porto, Sami moved toF.C. Arouca in the Portuguese top flight.[13] On 3 July, he returned to Aves on a two-year contract.[14]
Sami was selected for the2017 Africa Cup of Nations by managerBaciro Candé.[15] During the tournament inGabon, which ended in group stage exit, he featured 24 minutes in the 1–2 loss toCameroon.[16]
