Lemkein is aseamount in theWestern Pacific Ocean, west ofKwajalein.[1]

It is part of theMagellan Seamounts[2] and is avolcanic seamount covered with sediments.Ferromanganese crusts occur in some places.[3]Basalts in the form ofpillow lavas altered toclay andzeoliths have been recovered from Lemkein.[4] Like other Magellan Seamounts, it formed south of the equator and was moved to its present-day position byplate tectonics.[5]
