Lelantos orLelantus (Ancient Greek:Λήλαντος,romanized: Lḗlantos) is a minor mythological figure that appears in the late epicDionysiaca byNonnus ofPanopolis, written in the early fifth century AD.
Lelantos is theTitan father of thenymphAura ("Breeze"),[1] who was a hunting companion ofArtemis and the mother, byDionysus, ofIacchus, a minor deity connected with theEleusinian Mysteries.[2] Lelantos was married to theOceanid nymphPeriboea, whom Nonnus seems to imply was Aura's mother,[3] although elsewhere, he calls Aura the "daughter ofCybele", thePhrygian mother-goddess.[4] Lelantos's own parentage is not touched upon.
