Leire Landa Iroz (born 19 December 1986) is a Spanish formerfootballer who most recently played as adefender forPrimera División clubFC Barcelona and theSpain women's national football team. She also played forReal Sociedad,Atlético Madrid andAthletic Bilbao.[3][4]
In June 2013 national teamcoachIgnacio Quereda selected Landa in the Spain squad forUEFA Women's Euro 2013 in Sweden.[5] She was also part of Spain's team at the2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada.[1]
She wore the 23 shirt at Atlético in homage to former footballerIván de la Peña, well known for his shaved head, who was an inspirational model when she suffered fromBurkitt's lymphoma as a child.[6]
