TheLeft Coalition (Serbian:Лева коалиција,romanized: Leva koalicija) was a coalition ofleft-wing nationalistpolitical parties inSerbia for the1996 Yugoslavian parliamentary election and then for the1997 Serbian general election.
The coalition was made up of theSocialist Party of Serbia (SPS),Yugoslav Left (JUL) andNew Democracy (ND). It was led bySlobodan Milošević the leader ofSPS, but also main actors wereMirjana Marković the leader ofYugoslav Left andDušan Mihajlović the leader ofNew Democracy. Following the 1997 election, it formed a coalition government with theSerbian Radical Party (SRS). In 1998 ND left the coalition and after the defeat in the2000 Yugoslavian general election the Left Coalition was disbanded.[1][2][3][4]
