Lecanoromycetes is the largest class oflichenizedfungi.[1] It belongs to the subphylumPezizomycotina in thephylumAscomycota.[2] Theasci (spore-bearing cells) of the Lecanoromycetes most often release spores by rostratedehiscence.[1]
The group ismonophyletic (composed only of all the descendants of a common ancestor).[3]
