TheLeaffony River is a small river that runs throughCounty Sligo inIreland. It is sometimes known as theCullens River.[citation needed]
The 12.8 km (8 mi) river originates in County Sligo[2] and empties into theAtlantic Ocean atPollacheeny Harbour some 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) fromEnniscrone on the west side ofKillala Bay.[3][4][b]
There are claims that the river may previously have been known as theGeloir, meaning clear and mentioned several times in old records of Sligo.[5][6]
