Lauren Ellis (born 19 April 1989) is a New Zealand former road andtrack cyclist.
Ellis rode the team pursuit at the2008–09 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics in Beijing withKaytee Boyd andAlison Shanks, in a time of 3:28.044, becoming the fastest qualifiers.[1] They went on to take the gold medal in a time of 3:24.421, setting the second fastest time in the world behind the 3:22.425 world record set byGreat Britain atManchester in 2008.[2]
In 2009, she won a silver medal in theTeam Pursuit World Championships withJaime Nielsen andAlison Shanks.
Ellis won a silver medal in the women'spoints race at the2010 Commonwealth Games and the2010 World Championships.[3]
She won bronze at the2010 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in theTeam Pursuit, setting a world record.
At the2012 Summer Olympics, she rode theWomen's team pursuit. The New Zealand team placed 5th and set the current national record of 3:18.514.
At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she rode theWomen's team pursuit andOmnium. The New Zealand team placed 4th and set a national record of 4:17.592 during the first round. Ellis also placed 4th in the Omnium.
