Lauren Brown (born 18 April 1995) is an Australianrugby league footballer who plays as autility for theGold Coast Titans Women in theNRL Women's Premiership and theBurleigh Bears in theQRL Women's Premiership.

Before switching to rugby league, she playedsoccer for theBrisbane Roar andNewcastle Jets in theW-League and forAustralia inrugby sevens.

Background

Born on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Brown played rugby league growing up before having to give up the sport when she was 12, taking up soccer, touch football and surf lifesaving.[1]

Playing career

In 2011, Brown representedAustralia at the2011 AFC U-16 Women's Championship, scoring one goal.[2][3] In 2012, she played for theBrisbane before moving to theNewcastle Jets for the2013–14 W-League season.[4][5][6][7]

Rugby sevens

In 2017, Brown played forGriffith University at theAon University Sevens and represented Australia at the Oceania Games.[8]

In 2018, she played forBond University at the Aon University Sevens.[9][10] In April 2018, she made herRugby Sevens Series debut for Australia inJapan.[11]

Rugby league

In 2020, Brown returned to rugby league, joining theBurleigh Bears.[12] On 5 September 2020, she started atfive-eighth and was named Player of the Match in Burleigh's Holcim Cup Grand Final win over theSouths Logan Magpies.[13]

On 23 September 2020, Brown joined theBrisbane Broncos WomenNRL Women's Premiership squad.[14] In Round 1 of the2020 NRL Women's season, she made her debut for the Broncos in a 28–14 win over theNew Zealand Warriors.[15] On 25 October 2020, she started athooker in the Broncos' 20–10 Grand Final win over theSydney Roosters.[16]

On 13 November 2020, Brown made herState of Origin debut forQueensland, starting atcentre and kicking four goals in a 24–18 win overNew South Wales.[17]

On 1st of October 2023, she started at Half Back for theGold Coast Titans Women in the Grand Final, losing to theNewcastle Knights Women 24-18
