Laura Roper (née Laura Unsworth) (born 8 March 1988) is an Englishfield hockey player who plays as a midfielder or defender forEast Grinstead and theEngland andGreat Britain national teams.[1][2]

She is the first British field hockey player to win three Olympic medals.[3][4][5]

Unsworth attended Coppice Primary School,Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls andLoughborough University.

Club career

Roper plays club hockey in theWomen's England Hockey League Premier Division forEast Grinstead.

She has also played forHolcombe,Loughborough Students andSutton Coldfield.[6]

International career

Unsworth made her international debut in 2008 and was part of the Great Britain teams that won the gold medal at the2016 Olympics and bronze medals at the2012 and2020 Summer Olympics.

Unsworth has also competed forEngland at the European Championships winning three bronze, one silver and a Gold medal, won in London in 2015.[7] She also competed for England at the Commonwealth Games, securing bronze and silver at the2010 and2014.[8][9]
