TheLarkana–Jacobabad Light Railway (Urdu:لاڑکانہ – جیکب آباد فرعی ریلوے) was one of severalbranch lines in Pakistan, operated and maintained byPakistan Railways. The line began atLarkana Junction and ended atJacobabad Junction. The total length of this railway line is 136 kilometers (85 mi) with 14 railway stations.[1]
The Larkana–Jacobabad Light Railway (also known as theSind Light Railway andSindh Right Bank Feeder Railway) opened originally in 1924 as a762 mm (2 ft 6 in)narrow gauge line by theNorth Western State Railway. From Larkana, the line extended west towardsShahdadkot then curved northeast towards Jacobabad.[2] It followed the protective embankment of theSindh Right Bank.[3]
In 1956, the Larkana-Shadadkot section was converted by thePakistan Western Railway into1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in)broad gauge line. The section from Silra Shadadkot toBudapur was dismantled.[4]
