Laportea is a genus ofplants in the familyUrticaceae. They areherbaceous, either annual or perennial. Like many plants of theUrticaceae, they have stinging hairs. There are stinging and non-stinging hairs on the same plant.[1] The genus was named after the French naturalistFrancis de Laporte de Castelnau.[2]
