Lanthanolania (meaning "forgotten butcher") is anextinctgenus of early reptile fromMiddle Permian[1] (Wordian stage, or uppermost Kazanian inEastern Europe) deposits ofArkhangelsk Oblast,Russia. It is known from theholotype and only specimen PIN 162/56, a nearly completeskull from the Glyadnaya Shchelya locality,Mezen river in Mesen District. It was first named bySean P. Modesto andRobert R. Reisz in2003 and thetype species isLanthanolania ivakhnenkoi.[2]

In 2025, Jenkins et al. identifiedLanthanolania as the earliest-diverging member of theMillerettidae within theneoreptilian cladeParapleurota, outside ofNeodiapsida. These results are displayed in the cladogram below:[3]
