Lantana is anunincorporated community inCameron County,Texas, United States.[1] According to theHandbook of Texas, the community had a population of 137 in 2000. It is located within theRio Grande Valley and theBrownsville-Harlingen metropolitan area.
Lantana is located near the intersection ofTexas State Highway 345 andFarm to Market Road 1561 on the Southern Pacific Railroad, 3 miles (4.8 km) southeast ofRio Hondo in north-central Cameron County.[2]
Lantana had its own school in 1935.[2] Today, the community is served by theRio Hondo Independent School District.
