Lake Dallas is a city inDenton County,Texas, United States. It is located inNorth Texas, northwest of the city ofDallas, on the shores ofLewisville Lake. The community's name derives from the original name of the lake. It is also one of the four communities in the Lake Cities.[4]
According to theUnited States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.7 square miles (7.0 km2), of which 2.4 square miles (6.2 km2) is land and 0.31 square miles (0.8 km2), or 11.03%, is water.[5] The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to theKöppen Climate Classification system, Lake Dallas has ahumid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[6]

As of the2020 United States census, there were 7,708 people, 2,950 households, and 2,216 families residing in the city.[9]
The city of Lake Dallas is served by theLake Dallas Independent School District.[11] Lake Dallas is divided between the zones for Lake Dallas Elementary School andShady Shores Elementary School.[12] All residents are zoned to Lake Dallas Middle School andLake Dallas High School.
The library for the area is the Lake Cities Library. The Lake Dallas Independent School District employs 570 people.[13]
TheNorth Texas Tollway Authority has completeda bridge in August 2009 linking Lake Dallas andLittle Elm, Texas. The bridge connects Swisher Road in Lake Dallas with Eldorado Parkway in Little Elm.[14] A bridge previously connected the two cities, but was removed in the 1950s when theUnited States Army Corps of Engineers expandedLewisville Lake.[15]
