LC Waikiki or also known asLCW, is anIstanbul-based chain ready-to-wear fashion company with 54,000 employees. The company took its name fromWaikiki Beach inHawaii, and the initial letters of the French words "Les Copains", meaning "the friends".
The company was founded in Paris, France in 1988. It became a Turkish organization in 1997 after being purchased byTema Tekstil.[5] The brand gained popularity in the 1990s with clothes featuring its monkey mascot.[6]
After being acquired by Tema Tekstil, the first store was opened in Romania. By March 2020, the company had 1,004 stores in 47 countries.[3] In January 2021, the company opened its first store inUganda.[7] Later in 2021, the company opened its first store in Latin America.[8]
In Turkey, the company has more than 400 stores, spread out through 80 provinces.[9]
The first store opened inCosta Rica. It's located inCity Mall, in the city ofAlajuela.
