TheKurumali River is a major tributary of theKaruvannur River in the Thrissur district of Kerala. It originates in theWestern Ghats in theChimmony Wildlife Sanctuary ofThrissur District.

Course

The Kurumali River has its origin on the slopes of theWestern Ghats in theChimmony Wildlife Sanctuary of theThrissur district. TheChimmony dam is built across the Kurumali River. TheMuply River joins the Kurumali river in Karikulam. The river then passes the towns ofPalappally, Vettingapadam,Varantharapally, Vellarampadam,Mupliyam,Panthallur,Nellayi, Nandikkara,Puthukad and Cheruvaal.[1] Further downstream the Kurumali River joins with theManali River atArattupuzha forming theKaruvannur River.[2]
